The map of the great sites (VDP.Grosse Lagen) from van Volxem is an excerpt of the Prussian vineyard classification map “Saar und Mosel” from 1868. It refers to the results of a tax assessment by the Prussian authorities, from 1816 to 1832, in order to value the vineyards on the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer. This is one of the two oldest vineyard classifications in the world and is the basis for the VDP classification. The map may not be changed and only used if the source is stated (Weingut Van Volxem, Wiltingen).
