Incredible 37 German white wines among the Top 50. Still no trace of boredom. Of course, German white wine is more in demand than ever in specialist trade and gastronomy, and the Internet also contributes to this: Riesling & Co. are literally on everyone’s lips. Whereby: “& Co.” is becoming more and more important. In addition to the 21 Rieslings, 10 Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are represented on the list of 50 white wines of the year, and the trend is rising. It’s no secret: Riesling produces the most complex, greatest wines, but consumers actually prefer to drink Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. With four wines, Silvaner asserts itself as an insider tip from Germany. Probably the perfect middle way between Burgundy and Riesling. But right at the top, Riesling remains unbeatable. Rightly so, it is and remains the king of German white wines.
