White Burgundy from vineyards around Wawern and Wiltingen – dry taste profile.

Grown on Devonian slate soils with sandy, limestone parts with volcanic quartz-porphyry rock origins.

A full-bodied burgundy produced on the Saar slate? We have struggled at Van Volxem for a long time, to accept a different grape variety, other than the Riesling. In being the first winery on the Saar to produce White Burgundy, we have created a new interpretation of the wine, yet continued our tradition of wine with moderate alcohol, which is a perfect food companion.

Reviews

90/100

Still with yeasty and some oaky notes on the intense yet lime-fresh and flinty nose, the 2018 Weissburgunder is a rich and elegant, pretty lush and mouth-filling Pinot Blanc with intense tropical fruit but crystalline acidity and structure. This is a very attractive and accessible Pinot Blanc with rarely seen lush and sexy fruit.
